Connect your iPhone to your Audi car radio

Have: Audi A4 (B5 from 1998) with Concert radio and Bose sound.

Want: listen to music (Deezer), satellite navigation (Waze), and phone calls over the car stereo.

In 2008 I bought a Line In AUX Adapter for VW, AUDI, SEAT, and SKODA from Uni-Trade. Now, 7 years later, I installed the little adaptor. It was first bought for a Skoda, but has now found it’s place in a 1998 Audi A4 (B5) on a stock Concert radio with Bose sound system. Two garages told me this was not possible. I can’t believe I hesitated this long and how easy it was.

Before.
After
Connecting the phone.

First, you’ll need to remove the radio, as shown in the video below. My radio had a 8 pin mini DIN placeholder plugged into the phone that I first needed to remove when the radio was out.

Next, I removed the little storage box from it’s slot, made the hole larger for the audio cable, and passed the cable through.

Now we can connect the different bits together.

Connect the blue mini DIN plug from the adapter to the green mini DIN plug next to it, then slide the two together into the radio.

There is a brown ground cable that should be screwed onto the radio (see the crew jutting out?) but I just jammed it into the case of the radio.

Now connect the RCA connectors from your audio lead the adapter.
